What to Expect
As a Quality Steering Engineer in the Manufacturing Quality team, you will lead the team accountable for driving a zero-defect mindset in the McLaren Production Centre, through improvements in data integrity and analysis, robust RCA in the first level of problem solving, whilst coaching and developing the Manufacturing organisation through problem solving tools and techniques.
What You'll Do
Quality Control
* Conduct thorough inspections and audits of manufacturing processes, raw materials, and finished products to identify and address potential quality issues.
* Develop and implement comprehensive quality control plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Data Analysis
* Utilize statistical tools and data analysis techniques to assess product quality and identify trends or patterns that may impact manufacturing processes, using the 4m methodology (Man, Machine, Method, Material) and PPS (practical problem solving).
* Generate detailed reports using Microsoft Office tools that summarize quality metrics and provide actionable insights to enhance overall long-term production quality.
Process Improvement
* Collaborate with production teams to identify areas for process improvement and recommend corrective actions to eliminate defects and enhance efficiency.
* Conduct process capability and root cause analysis investigations for quality incidents and implement preventive measures. Conduct first-party audits to ensure process adherence and identify continuous improvements within the manufacturing areas.
Documentation And Reporting
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken.
* Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting key quality performance indicators and outlining improvement initiatives.
Collaboration
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to drive a culture of quality throughout the organization.
* Implement lean manufacturing principles.
* Apply a lean focus on reducing waste including scrap.
What You'll Bring

* Knowledge of vehicle-based technology fundamentals (Powertrain, Chassis, Body & Electrical).
* Technical knowledge of assembly and disassembly of vehicles.
