Job overview
We are recruiting for an Emergency Medical Technician - ED who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will be trained to achieve a high level of practical skills for use within the Emergency Department. On completion of your training programme, it is anticipated that you will be capable of undertaking the following duties: Baseline Observations, Application of Support/Splintage, Cardiac Monitoring, Venepuncture, BLS, Wound Care & Suturing.

Main duties of the job
1. Assisting the nursing staff in maintaining a safe environment and delivering a high standard of patient care.
2. Baseline observations, Application of support/splintage, Cardiac monitoring, Venepuncture, Basic Life Support of the adult (including automated external defibrillation) and child. Wound toilet and suturing, Techniques of wound closure.
3. This role will require working across Lister A&E and UCC at QEII.
4. To be fully conversant with a wide range of Health and Safety issues.
5. In addition to the various clinical skills, Technicians will be expected to learn the basic layout and the functioning of the medical equipment.

Qualifications/Training
* Good basic education – English & Maths
* Care certificate or Level 2 apprenticeship in healthcare
Previous Experience
* Ability to work closely with all grades of staff
* Adaptability, ability to prioritise work, especially under pressure.
* Previous employment within a healthcare setting
* Previous experience in dealing with patients
* Operation of equipment
