Pastoral Mentor

Lancaster & Morecambe College are looking for a Pastoral Mentor to support learners at LMC to achieve their full potential. You will work with the Safeguarding manager to ensure all support for learners is compliant with the current Keeping Children Safe in Education and Prevent Duty legislation, acting as a point of contact regarding wellbeing or pastoral matters. Part of this role will be to help support and monitor learner improvement plans with the aim of improving attendance, progress and achievement.

Excellent communication skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality and experience of working with young people are essential to the role. You should hold a Level 2 qualification in Safeguarding/Child Protection/Prevent training or be willing to achieve this within an agreed timeframe, as well as holding GCSE’s Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English. You should also have, or be willing to undertake, a Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health / 2 day Mental Health First Aid.
