Are you an experienced Business Development Manager with international sales or business development experience within an engineering and manufacturing environment? If so, we want YOU to join our team as an Industrial Business Development Manager.
The Industrial Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, particularly within the global oil & gas sector. This includes managing existing distribution networks and seeking new distribution opportunities to drive market growth. The role involves market intelligence gathering through research and analysis of industry developments, competitor activities, and emerging trends. The IBDM is responsible for promoting and selling products, while working closely with technical and engineering teams to provide customer-focused solutions and strengthen client relationships.
This role requires overseeing distribution management, ensuring optimal supply chain efficiency, and developing long-term strategic partnerships. Considerable international travel will be required as part of this role, to engage with clients, attend industry events, and explore new market opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Report to the Industrial Business Division Manager on a regular basis, providing updates on business development activities, sales performance, and market expansion initiatives;
2. Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve growth targets, particularly within the oil & gas and power sectors;
3. Establish and manage relationships with key clients, distributors, and supply chain partners to optimise market reach;
4. Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive threats within the industry;
5. Maintain and develop a customer relationship management database for both existing and prospective markets;
6. Attend and represent the company at key industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities;
7. Develop action plans for key accounts to improve sales performance and strengthen customer relationships;
8. Identify and evaluate new market opportunities for the introduction of products or services;
9. Ensure compliance with all company policies, rules, procedures, and industry regulations;
10. Work in a safe manner at all times and adhere to the company's health and safety requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience
1. Must be willing to travel internationally to visit clients;
2. Mechanical Sales or Engineering experience;
3. Commercially astute with strong business development acumen;
4. Excellent verbal communication, presentation, networking and negotiation skills;
5. Strategic thinker with a proactive, results-driven mindset;
6. Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive sales growth and market expansion;
7. Strong attention to detail with the ability to assess commercial risks and propose mitigation strategies;
8. Ability to manage workload effectively and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
1. HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering;
2. Formal recognised Sales Qualification;
