WHAT TO EXPECT
We are currently hiring for the position of a Cooling System Materials SME to join our Heat Flux Management System (HFMS) SME team here at JLR. You will have an influential role within the team, setting the standard and strategy for the hardware required to meet the system needs. In this role, you will be responsible for setting the materials application strategy used in cooling systems for a variety of commodities.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Define the materials usage strategy for cooling system hardware.
2. Develop, consult and validate material usage by commodity and application, leading to a body of pre-approved materials.
3. Create and manage a materials application register to ensure that quality materials, suitable for application are being specified.
4. Research and collaborate with materials suppliers to increase recycled and bio-source material content to improve commodity sustainability and reduced CO2E.
5. Develop a strategy to replace materials containing PFAS chemicals, working with suppliers to ensure appropriate selection and verification has been conducted.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
In order to be considered for this role, you will need to have a deep understanding of polymer, elastomer and metallic materials used in thermal management systems including their properties and their interactions with environmental factors to ensure the efficient performance and reliability of cooling systems.
Essential:
1. Competent in forward model quality principles.
2. Significant experience as materials engineer in a complex technology or system.
3. Extensive experience optimising engineering design solutions for manufacture.
4. Experience with writing materials specifications.
5. Significant experience with high performance and engineering polymers and elastomers.
