Job Overview
The Senior Test Analyst is responsible for the creation of test cases using in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, and portability). They create traceability records from test cases back to requirements. They produce automated and manual test scripts, materials, and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Specify requirements for environment, data, resources, and tools.
2. Interpret, execute, and document complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards.
3. Record and analyze actions and results, maintaining a defect register.
4. Review test results and modify tests if necessary.
5. Provide reports on progress, anomalies, risks, and issues associated with the overall project.
6. Collect metrics on test cases and provide specialist advice to support others.
7. Review requirements and specifications, and define test conditions.
8. Mentor Test Analysts and Trainee Test Analysts.
About the Role
1. Use in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications to determine test requirements.
2. Design and produce reusable test scripts, procedures, and regression test packs to test new and amended software.
3. Monitor progress and document test pass/failures compared with predefined criteria.
4. Use diagnostic tools, technical manuals, test scripts, and systems documentation to identify, diagnose, and report on system errors.
5. Guide team members on testing practices and prioritize tasks to achieve results ready for milestones.
6. Deputize for Lead Test Analyst.
7. Maintain knowledge of specific specialisms and provide detailed advice regarding their application.
About You
1. Experience using automated test tools.
2. Scripting experience with Cucumber/WebDriver IO, Playwright, Postman, or ReadyAPI.
3. Ability to break down problems systematically and identify relationships between components.
4. Capability to influence where automation will add value.
5. Familiarity with testing techniques used to plan and execute software tests.
6. Awareness of software tools that automate or assist any part of the testing process.
7. Experience with applications, processes, or products that benefit the test team.
8. Specialist knowledge and skills in one or more business functions, technology, or automation tools.
9. Ability to meet targets and fulfill agreements even in adverse circumstances.
10. Collaborative attitude towards achieving common goals.
11. Proactive in anticipating opportunities for service improvement.
12. Attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
