Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Sample Management and Logistics Coordinator to be based from our Lab in Royston, Hertfordshire.
The sample management & logistics coordinator works closely with the Operations Team to control all aspects of biological sample management at our UK Labs. This includes organizing and receipting national and international shipments, working efficiently with couriers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. This role is also responsible for all aspects of sample receipt, inventory recording in an electronic database, verifying data, and reconciling issues.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
Shipment and Inventory management of biological samples:
* Liaise with project manager or supervisor to coordinate the shipment of cryopreserved cells or other biological samples.
* Verify information printed on vials against data recorded in shipping manifest.
* Timely and accurate accessioning of samples into the database for multiple inbound sample types across projects.
* Update electronic databases and/or paper records appropriately.
* Document any discrepancies observed during sample receipt and liaise with the project manager for resolution.
* Perform data entry QC checks in electronic databases.
* Investigate and resolve data discrepancies in electronic databases.
* Generate, protect, and maintain raw data and associated metadata, including sample, reagent and methodology details.
* Maintain accurate, up to date records (lab and timesheet).
Regulatory:
* Comply with all quality management, regulatory compliance, and project management processes (GxP, HTA, H&S).
* Work to the current Good Clinical Practice for Laboratories (GCLP) standards and maintain appropriate training and qualifications.
Shared Responsibilities:
* To keep the department laboratory space clean, tidy and safe.
* To be aware and have a working understanding of the responsibilities of other members of the PfM Royston team.
Other:
* Participate in on-call rota for out-of-hours work as required.
* Actively participate in performance review and personal development processes required.
Qualifications:
* A-levels (that include biology and chemistry) or degree in Biology or other relevant life science subject.
Other required:
* 1-2 years relevant laboratory experience in sample management and/or logistics.
* Experience of a Laboratory Information Management Software (LIMS) for biological specimen management such as the Biological Specimen Inventory (BSI) system.
* Experience of working in a regulated environment such as GxP and the Human Tissue Act.
Preferred:
* Proof of vaccination against Hepatitis B.
* International Air Transport Association (IATA) training.
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* IT skills, in particular, Microsoft tools.
* Ability to lift and carry between 1-7kg.
