UK Nationality and eligibility for UK Security Clearance at SC level are required.
This permanent, full-time role involves managing the design engineering process for specialised products such as pilot flight equipment, driving innovation, and ensuring rigorous safety standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide top-tier design engineering expertise within contract terms or service level agreements, including planning, coordinating, and supervising major contracts.
2. Identify and implement improvements to existing product designs, develop and deliver product roadmap changes, and handle new product developments.
3. Manage the knowledge management system, ensuring effective knowledge sharing.
4. Address emerging design, quality, safety, and operational issues, identifying causes and stakeholders.
5. Develop procedures and interpret regulatory requirements to ensure product compliance and best practice.
6. Analyse the feasibility of proposed complex products and services, making recommendations for development, replacement, or retirement.
7. Oversee a portfolio of change projects, reporting progress to senior colleagues.
8. Recommend improvements to policies, processes, standards, and practices.
9. Evaluate and identify solutions that best meet business and customer needs.
10. Engage in continuous professional development, keeping abreast of industry regulations and best practices.
Job Requirements:
1. Extensive mechanical engineering experience within the aerospace industry.
2. Experience with system-level integration, finite element analysis, and strong mechanical skills.
3. Background and knowledge in materials science.
4. People management/supervisory experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. BSc/MSc in Engineering, preferably mechanical or aerospace engineering.
2. Chartered Engineer status.
3. Experience in product safety.
