We are now recruiting for an Operations Improvements Manager to play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating operational changes within our Service Delivery department. With a focus on building departmental competence, operational maturity, and excellence, this role offers the chance to lead impactful change across the tram network. Key Responsibilities of our Operations Improvement Manager: Lead and manage all aspects of operational change within the Service Delivery Department, ensuring all changes are documented, communicated, and effectively implemented. Develop an Operational Change Delivery Plan, supporting team preparations for organizational and network transitions. Collaborate on introducing and training staff on the new Operations Control Centre (OCC) simulator and manage a structured training and competency development program. Oversee and ensure the consistency of all operational documentation and processes, keeping them up to date with relevant changes. Partner with the MML Training Academy to ensure all learning plans align with operational needs, especially in preparation for new route implementations. Coordinate safety procedures and operational practices for the introduction of Delta Junctions at Wednesbury and on Corporation Street/Bull Street. Support an on-call manager roster. Qualifications & Experience Required In-depth operational knowledge of the UK tramway/light rail industry, with demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining tramway Operational Safety Management Systems. Degree or equivalent Level 4 qualification in a related subject; continuing personal and professional development is expected. Familiarity with the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS) and experience managing competency development systems. In order to be successful in this role you must have / be: Extensive experience in the UK tramway industry with strong expertise in operational and safety management systems. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the capacity to produce thorough reports and analytics. Demonstrated experience in driving change within an organization, influencing stakeholders, and supporting team member development. Self-motivated, reliable, and innovative in approach, with a proactive attitude toward both independent and team-based work. Ability to travel, including overnight stays, as needed, and willingness to support an on-call manager roster.
