Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Child Psychiatrist to join a vibrant multidisciplinary team, develop your special interest and psychiatry practice while having the best of what Devon offers. We welcome candidates wishing to work less than full time. This post will be based in North Devon, working with many consultants across a number of pathways.

Candidates will be joining a CQC rated Good service, with a strong and established workforce of Child Psychiatrists in Devon and Torbay. Devon CAMHS is part of a wider Integrated service within Children and Family Health Devon, delivering a range of health, social and education services for children and young people. The service model aims to actively promote prevention, early intervention and opportunities for children, young people and their families to build resilience and to stay well, whilst also providing evidence-based, outcomes-focused interventions to enable children to recover, maintain their best quality of life and reach their potential.
Main duties of the job
This is a 10PA community post based in North Devon. The service has a strong multidisciplinary ethos and successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to working flexibly with colleagues from other disciplines in an integrated way and acknowledging their expertise where appropriate.
The appointee will be expected to provide psychiatric input to the multidisciplinary team, contributing to clinical and team management decisions and providing consultation to others. They will contribute to the assessment, formulation and development of management plans for young people and as one of the senior clinicians, provide leadership, supervision and consultation to other team members where appropriate, and joining any team supervision activities. There will be a particularly strong emphasis on leadership, both clinical and in terms of service development.
The successful candidate will participate in on-call duties and join the regular peer group CPD forum and will be supported to become a clinical supervisor or pursue special interests.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
* To hold Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
* Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* MRC Psych OR equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Evidence of sub-speciality or other specific training, e.g. systemic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy.
* CCT Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
* Clinical experience in a range of services within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
* Experience in other related specialities, e.g. psychotherapy, paediatrics.
Management

* Awareness of NHS management and funding arrangements.
* Management training / experience.
* Experience of involvement in service development.
Research
