Specialist Rehabilitation and Mobility Centre Receptionist

The Specialist Rehabilitation and Mobility Centre (SRMC) consists of three core services:
* A Wheelchair service for people living within North Cumbria, who have long term restriction of walking ability because of illness, disability or advancing years. Currently serving around 8,000 users.
* A Prosthetic service. One of the nine Murrison Centre's in England and that offers specialist prosthetic rehabilitation services to army veterans, as well as the civilian population including patients in the North East and Southern Scotland. The service currently has 500 patients.
* An Orthotic service catering to the needs of around 12,000 patients by providing biomechanical assessment to acute inpatients and outpatients requiring orthotic intervention in the wider Cumbria area.
The SRMC works closely with the inpatient Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Departments and other AHP's both within the Acute Trust and the Community to provide a holistic approach to rehabilitation and assist in providing a smooth transition of care between acute and community settings.
Main duties of the job
1. To meet and greet patients attending the Centre in a pleasant and helpful manner.
2. To communicate effectively with patients who have complex physical disabilities, mental health, learning disabilities and/or cognitive impairment needs.
3. To respond to telephone and in-person enquiries in a confidential, pleasant and helpful manner at all times.
4. To provide efficient provision of reception duties for the Centre, including responding to telephone and in-person enquiries and the booking in and out of patients attending the Centre.
5. To maintain patient records and management information.
6. To input client sensitive information into the relevant database.
7. To assist in organising the delivery and collection of all wheelchair related equipment.
8. To work as a team to ensure the reception is covered at all times.
9. To arrange hospital transport for services users as required.
10. To operate the electronic records system for all services, including the booking of clinical appointments when required.
11. To ensure that all delivered goods are signed for and passed onto the relevant department.
12. To be responsible for updating the board detailing the manager on duty and number of clinical staff on site, on a daily basis.
13. To have an awareness of the other services within the Centre and offer support and backup during times of absence or particularly busy periods.
