Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products.
Overview: The role holder will be responsible for driving performance improvement across the Supply Chain, removing non-value-added activities, and introducing new processes to support growth. The individual will leverage their mechanical and technical expertise to contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice strategy, programs, and processes to improve performance. They will use lean tools to identify and take advantage of improvement opportunities within the organisation.
Main Responsibilities:

Provide coaching and direction to drive continuous improvement towards maximising the growth and profitability of the value stream in support of the business strategy.

Lead and mentor the existing workforce, to embed a continuous improvement ethos.
*
Utilise Lean Tools where required (Daily Mgmt, Problem Solving, VSM, Standard Work, 5S, TPM, SMED, Kanban, PFEP, SIOP) to identify waste and embed sustained improvement.
*
Collect, monitor, evaluate and report on production/logistics data and use data to plan CI Projects, and where required to lead kaizen bursts.
*
Improve efficiency through analysis and planning of workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
*
Help develop more efficient ways to utilise people, machinery, materials, data, and energy to make a product or service.
*
Collaborate with the automation and wider operational teams to implement new technologies into the value stream.
*
Ensure CI projects are on time and within budget. Track and report on progress of CI projects.
*
Engage closely with all business functions to give consistent strategic oversight and bring together common objectives.
*
Ensure a strong process control focus across all key operational and logistics areas.
*
Ensure CI projects consider requirements for safe working conditions and compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.
Skills & Requirements:

Relevent experience in Manufacturing.
*
Evidence of consistently delivering performance improvement through leading change or leading a team.
*
Able to build effective relationships and collaborate with a range of individuals at all levels in the organisation, including evidence of building rapport with those on the coalface.
*
Able to gain buy-in and to influence indirect reports.
*
Significant knowledge and experience in Continuous Improvement / Lean practices and principles.
*
Significant experience of using and/or implementing Continuous Improvement and Lean techniques such as 5S, Problem Solving, Standardised Work, Visual Management, Oobeya Room, DMAIC.
*
Technical manufacturing and/or maintenance experience and knowledge of TPM.
*
A demonstrable history of leading major transformation projects.
*
Experienced and skilled in leading cross-functional projects.
*
Experienced and skilled in coaching indirect reports in Lean thinking.
*
Strong problem solving and strategic-thinking skills.
*
A highly collaborative style and able to thrive in a team environment.
Desirable:
End-to-end supply chain experience including planning, sourcing, manufacturing and warehousing.
Lean Six Sigma Qualification - Green Belt.
Technical manufacturing experience, ideally in plastics manufacturing (such as injection moulding or extrusion).
An ability to turn complex analysis into meaningful strategy, which can be understood at all levels in the organisation.
Understanding of EBIT/Working capital pressures.
Profound knowledge and experience of continuous improvement change-management and Lean principles.
Other industry qualifications such as CPIM, PMP, Prince2, CSCP.
Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Economics, Finance or other subject relevant to Operations.
Experience in dedicated CI role.
Working hours & benefits:
Monday - Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm - based on site in Doncaster, DN12 1ES with 1 day a week working from home.
