Trainee Outdoor Education Instructor (Climbing Focus) with The Perse School
The role is offered as a one year fixed term training contract. It is an exciting opportunity for anyone considering a career in Outdoor Instruction. This climbing focused role may be of specific interest to those with an active interest in climbing or bouldering.
Much of the post holder’s delivery will be conducted in our state-of-the-art climbing wall, with the largest roped wall within 50 miles of Cambridge! Instructional delivery will focus on climbing games provision and commercial climbing. This will include the delivery of NICAS courses (climbing levels 1-4 and bouldering levels 1-3), learn to climb/boulder courses, birthday parties, corporate events, and holiday clubs. Supervision of public climbing sessions as a floor walker, ensuring safe practice is observed at all times, will also be required. The post holder will also have wider involvement in activity provision across Outdoor Education at The Perse.
They will work across Perse Outdoor Education Provision including alternate week delivery with the DofE, Paddlesport, and PES Ascent group programmes. The position will offer a comprehensive experience developing skills in a supportive and collegiate environment. The role will enable the appointed candidate to take part in all aspects of the department’s work. The role is divided between training, activity instruction, and administration tasks. It also includes exciting trip opportunities alongside term-time programme delivery.
