I'm working with an award-winning financial services organisation offering flexible alternatives to traditional banking. This is a business in growth mode who are now looking to recruit a Legal Counsel to work alongside the Legal Director there. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from a very experienced, senior lawyer whilst learning the skills required to lead an in-house legal function. Key Responsibilities: · Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a variety of contractual matters; · Advising the leadership and business teams on legal and strategic matters in a variety of fields which may include regulatory compliance, financial services, commercial law, corporate, competition law, intellectual property and, occasionally, litigation; · To participate and lead as required in key project groups, for example new product development and other commercial opportunities; · Keeping up-to-date with legal developments ensuring that any pertinent topics are communicated effectively to internal stakeholders; and · Reviewing and updating policies and procedures. Skills & Experience: · Be a UK-qualified solicitor with at least 3 years PQE in commercial contracts; · Experience can be gained in-house or in private practice; - Experience in fintech or financial services is desirable; · Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation skills and the ability to present information in a concise and coherent manner, communicating risk effectively, and in line with business risk appetite; · Be able to confidently work with limited supervision with a good understanding of the regulated environment in which the Group operates; and · Have the ability to exert influence and build strong relationships across different business functions. This is a really interesting business in a period of scale-up creating an opportunity for the successful lawyer to progress and cement themselves with the senior team.
