Role Purpose
The Business Development Associate will drive lead generation and pipeline growth for Smart Data Foundry’s Insights solutions and Data Partnerships. They will identify and engage new opportunities, nurture leads and manage the CRM (HubSpot) to track interactions and report on progress. Working closely with the Marketing and Engagement teams, they will align outreach efforts, build strong customer relationships, and support market expansion through research and data-driven insights.
Responsibilities
* Lead Generation & Management: Proactively identify and engage new business opportunities through research, outreach, and networking for Smart Data Foundry’s Insights products and Data Partnerships.
* Lead Nurturing: Qualify inbound leads, drive outreach, and follow-up to maintain a healthy sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are effectively moved through the funnel.
* CRM Management: Maintain and update CRM (Hubspot) to track interactions, follow up on leads, and report on pipeline progress to management.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team, and wider Engagement team, to align on solutions, messaging, target segments, and campaign strategies.
* Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with potential customers, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions, ensuring a positive experience at all stages of the engagement process.
* Market Research: Keep up to date with market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for Smart Data Foundry to grow its presence and impact.
* Reporting and Analytics: Provide regular updates and performance reports to the Head of Marketing and Communications on lead generation, engagement activities, and overall performance against KPIs.
Essential skills
* At least 1–2 years in sales, business development, or a similar role (preferably in a B2B environment). Experience in data, technology, or social impact sectors is a plus.
* Comfortable using CRM systems (Hubspot experience is ideal), with strong organisational skills to track and manage leads and activities.
* A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, motivated by both individual and team success.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to engage prospects at various levels.
* Demonstrable ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is maintained.
* Passion for data’s potential to drive social good and a genuine interest in the mission and vision of Smart Data Foundry.
