Liquid Personnel is currently recruiting for a Social Worker to join the Children’s Disability Team in Northumberland. This role involves working with children who have disabilities, ensuring their safety and well-being through comprehensive assessments and interventions. The Social Worker will be responsible for conducting procedurally compliant assessments and Section 47 enquiries to identify levels and types of risk or need based on documented evidence. They will also record and analyze information gathered during social care assessments in line with case recording policies, local and national guidance, and best practice principles.
In this role, the Social Worker will engage with children, their carers, and families to understand their circumstances, wishes, and feelings. This understanding will help form conclusions that direct longer-term interventions focused on the best interests of the child. The Social Worker will also be involved in taking and recording children’s contacts and referrals, contributing to a full understanding of the issues being referred, the relative urgency, the level of risk or need, and the necessary actions in individual cases. Additionally, they will assist in providing court statements and preparing reports required by courts and other bodies in connection with children’s services.
The Social Worker will work alongside colleagues to provide social care advice and interventions across Doncaster Council and all agencies. They will prioritize tasks based on urgency and levels of risk or need, ensuring that children are safe and their needs are met. The role also involves contributing to the team’s functioning by supporting colleagues, advising less experienced staff members, and engaging in cross-agency work. The Social Worker will take ownership of their professional development by engaging with developmental supervision, critically evaluating their practice, and staying updated on emerging case law, research, and best practice guidance. They will also provide information, guidance, and advice on the availability of local services and practices relevant to working with children, young people, and families.
