Summary:
A Welder Fabricator is responsible for welding, fabricating, and assembling metal components to create structures, machinery, and equipment. This role involves interpreting blueprints, using various welding techniques, and ensuring high-quality workmanship in accordance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding and Fabrication:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Performing welding operations using methods such as MIG (Essential) TIG, Stick, and Arc welding (desirable)
- Cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components to precise dimensions.
Inspection and Quality Control:
- Inspecting welded joints and structures for quality and adherence to specifications.
- Identifying and repairing any defects or inconsistencies in welds.
- Conducting tests to ensure the strength and integrity of finished products.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operating welding machines, grinders, cutters, and other fabrication tools.
- Performing routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Keeping tools and work area clean and organized.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhering to industry standards, company procedures, and safety regulations during all testing processes.
- Ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Following all safety procedures and guidelines to protect oneself and others from hazardous materials.
- Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, and coveralls.
- Adhering to environmental regulations and proper disposal methods for paint and solvents.
- You have a responsibility under the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 to take reasonable care of yourself and other persons that may be affected by your acts or omissions at work, secure the health, safety and welfare of your staff at work and protect, so far as is reasonable practicable, all others against risks to their health or safety arising from your work activities and those of their staff and ensure that your duties are discharged adequately. Collaboration and Communication:
- Working closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to complete projects.
- Communicating any issues or delays to Team Leaders promptly.
- Participating in team meetings and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Certification in welding or a related field is preferred minimum NVQ level2 required
- Relevant experience in welding and metal fabrication.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG essential).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and handling of hazardous materials.
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in various environmental conditions.
- Good vision and manual dexterity.
- There may be requirement to work alternating shifts – Earlies, Lates, Nights
- Must be able to pass a medical
