Are you an experienced Manufacturing Applications Project Engineer who enjoys the challenge of short lead times and varying product schedules?
Do you have the ambition to progress within a business and really be an integral part of its long-term, future success and direction?
If you enjoy the cut and thrust of fast-paced precision engineering environments and the pace that working for a contract manufacturer brings, then take a look at this job. It might just be the one you’ve been waiting for.
Based in North Manchester, you’d be working with a manufacturer of precision components who can produce products from prototyping right through to bulk orders. They have a modern approach to industry 4.0 and have an established business and stable workforce.
The business needs an experienced and self-motivated Manufacturing Applications Project Engineer to help increase its capacity, technology adoption and capability as a modern engineering business.
It’s a great opportunity for the right person but it’s not one for the faint-hearted, as this is a new role and as such, requires pre-existing knowledge and capability to deliver on desired outcomes.
As this is a mid-sized SME, the cultural fit is as important as the experience you can bring.
• Positive approach to problem solving
• Open with (and to) ideas
• Open leadership style and ability to document and verbalise results and expectations
• Team mentality is also a vital component of your character that makes you the right person for the job, and makes this the right job for you
The thing to bear in mind is that with any new role, there is likely to be limited support with any job-specific skills gaps so you will need to be quietly confident in your own capabilities as a capable and forward-thinking project engineer.
The role involves supporting the Plant Manager in implementing and optimising new technologies, equipment, and software.
Key Responsibilities:
• Technical Support: Provide engineering and application support during manufacturing
• New Product Introduction: Assist in launching new products
• Project Leadership: Lead improvements in manufacturing projects, including software systems, CAD/CAM, and quality programming
• Inspection Management: Maintain inspection equipment and ensure daily production inspection requirements are met
• Documentation: Apply new technologies to quality control documentation, including inspection reports and certificates of conformity, ISIR’s, PPAP reporting etc.
• Decision Making: Make decisions regarding re-work and scrap in collaboration with senior managers.
• Customer Complaints: Address non-conformance reports related to customer complaints and quality control issues
• Quality equipment programming to maximise coverage and usage of inspection equipment
What We’re Looking For:
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in CMM/Quality Equipment Programming (Keyence, Mitutoyo MCOSMOS, Faro preferred) and CAD skills (AutoDesk Fusion preferred).
• Knowledge of HighQA Quality software
• Experience: Previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing role, project delivery, and quality management.
• Education: Engineering qualification or relevant engineering/manufacturing experience
• Well-versed in modern engineering and manufacturing principles and digital technologies
• Ability to successfully deliver change by leadership, best practice and leading by example
• Attributes: Responsible, organised, and detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a genuine desire to keep learning and getting ahead of the curve
What you get in return:
• Circa £50k dependant on experience
• 25 days holiday + bank holidays (increasing with service)
• Days, Monday to Friday
• Pension
• Training
• DIS Scheme
• Career development
Immediate start available although we will wait for the right person too.
