Your profile What's on Offer: Job Type : Zero Hours Location: Remote/Online Salary : 17.69/hr - 19.23/hr (depending on experience) Schedule : Saturdays (4-8 hours per week) Wellbeing Day Job Description Overview: As a premium provider of OET Preparation, our OET teachers are key to BSC’s vision of ‘delivering outstanding and transformational learning experiences both in and outside the classroom. This role works closely with the OET Lead and online teaching team to ensure students’ progress through their chosen course of study and receive the guidance and feedback they need to succeed. The duties of the role are outlined below, with further specification in the teacher handbook. Duties: Online: 1) Teach the BSC Online OET course, as set out in the teacher's handbook and guided by the OET Lead. Teachers should ensure all of the key course content is covered whilst ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to the individual learning needs of the students. 2) Ensure students are aware of course and lesson learning outcomes by communicating the aims and structure of each session at the beginning of the day and explaining how these fits in to overall structure of the course. 3) Teach high-quality lessons that are in line with the standards set by BSC and the OET Lead. 4) Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessment and adapting materials and lesson content accordingly. 5) Ensure all students are directed to relevant areas of the self-study materials provided. 6) Begin and end classes promptly. 7) Monitor student attendance and communicate to relevant parties. 9) Provide cover for absent teachers as and when required. Outside the classroom: 1) Planning and preparation of lessons in accordance with the set curricula and syllabi, with particular thought to the needs and priorities of the students before class begins 2) Complete all administrative tasks relating to your classes and your role in a timely manner and to a high standard, including detailed work and homework records, materials used, test results and other relevant student information 3) Leave sufficient detail for cover teachers in event of being unable to teach 4) Complete schemes of work/weekly plans in advance and amend to reflect changes in lesson content 5) Set, mark and correct homework providing appropriate written and oral feedback according to BSC’s correction and feedback policy Continuous Professional Development: 1) Actively participate in arrangements for training and professional development as a teacher according to OET’s requirements in order to maintain your OET badge 2) Review teaching methods and work programmes through regular Professional Development Reviews/Appraisals with your manager, using BSC Systems to track all goals and CPD records when required 3) Participate in BSC’s observation programme for both developmental and quality control purposes, including peer observations and others conducted by managers, teacher trainers, central academic team and other internal and external clients 4) Attend team meetings and CPD sessions when required 5) Keep up to date with industry developments, new resources, methods and technology and apply to your classroom practice where appropriate. Communication and Collaboration: 1) Cooperate with group, college and academic management with regard to the preparation of courses, creation of materials, delivery of lessons and group wide events and initiatives 2) Be familiar with the teacher and student handbooks and relevant updates 3) Proactively act as a conduit between students and college management team 4) Respond to student feedback in a professional and timely manner, in conjunction with your manager 5) Take part in employee satisfaction surveys and provide feedback when relevant 6) Communicate promptly any relevant student information to your manager Safeguarding and Compliance 1) Oversee the general welfare of all students in your classes and refer any issues to the safeguarding officers in accordance with the group safeguarding policy 2) Manage student behaviour and etiquette in the online classroom 3) Ensure that all students receive the necessary amount of time designated for tutorials 4) Comply with all BSC policies and dress code and online teaching etiquette 5) Ensure learners are aware of BSC rules and regulations 6) Conduct yourself in a manner representative of BSC’s Vision, Mission and Values. Education & Experience Required: Cambridge CELTA/DELTA or industry equivalent Have a digital OET Knowledge Badge Degree or alternative relevant experience Ability to deliver lessons to TEFLI/TEFLQ standards (depending on qualification) Proven experience of online teaching Experience in EFL teaching with a good understanding of current industry developments Evidence of Continuous Professional Development and the willingness to learn new skill Experience and Knowledge Desired: Comfortable using online teaching tools Previous experience of teaching OET Knowledge of another language at B1 or higher Experience in curriculum/syllabus design and/or materials writing Expertise in another subject or industry such as business, technology, hospitality etc. Further Information All BSC colleagues must operate in line with our team-led Vision, Mission & Values as outlined below: BSC VISION: To provide customers with steppingstones to their future by delivering outstanding and transformational learning experiences.
