Technical Energy Manager
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Technical Energy Manager to join the team located in Reading.
The role of the Technical Energy Manager is to deliver reporting, energy management, and sustainability services in the context of M&E contracts. It requires strong technical knowledge of commercial building services.
The purpose of this role is:
1. To ensure the effective management of energy resources to meet client's objectives and targets.
2. To coordinate activities across the business unit and motivate and train people in energy management.
3. Carry out all energy and sustainability related tasks to ensure service provision and compliance.
4. To identify, develop and implement new energy-related opportunities and support operations and maintenance teams.
Accountabilities:
1. Develop and implement clear energy performance strategies for a range of buildings and clients.
2. Promote energy efficiency and provide advice and support for the development of energy-efficient practices.
3. Work with the operations teams to improve the energy performance of buildings, particularly through the application of advanced control systems.
4. Provide full feasibility studies of costed initiatives and projects to reduce energy usage.
5. Support project teams to manage the implementation of initiatives.
6. Undertake energy surveys in clients' premises.
7. Work with and support the Head of Projects to ensure that the environmental and social impact of all projects is assessed and taken into account.
8. Collect and present Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual reporting of Utilities, Waste, and Carbon Emissions, taking full ownership of data management platforms.
9. Provide monitoring and verification through the full cycle of the project to achieve cost and energy-efficient solutions.
10. Maintain a thorough understanding of corporate energy strategy, legal, statutory, and technical issues which affect the client's premises.
11. Keep abreast of Energy Market developments and changes, ensuring that the client complies with all Energy Related Legislation.
12. Support the development and implementation of asset-level Net Zero Carbon strategies.
13. Drive the wider sustainability agenda as appropriate to the client and the services provided, potentially covering waste management, water management, sustainable procurement, and the management of social value.
14. Manage compliance with any environmental and well-being certification schemes.
15. Operate in accordance with the clients' energy and/or environmental management systems.
16. Support the training and development of a team of Energy Engineers and manage their activity.
17. Engage with on-site delivery teams to promote the adoption of sustainable practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. HNC BTEC Level 4 in Building Services.
2. City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations.
3. Minimum 5 years experience in energy management or the application of Building Management Systems.
4. Working knowledge of BMS and control theory.
5. Extensive knowledge of the principal techniques and technologies that support the efficient use of energy.
6. Understand the principles behind HVAC, refrigeration, and Lighting operation and system design/integration.
7. Competency in current benchmark techniques and statistical analysis.
8. Working knowledge of M&T software.
9. Knowledge of customer operations, business drivers, financials, and specialist sources of information, legislative requirements where necessary.
10. An appropriate energy-related qualification or equivalent in building services engineering (preferably to Degree level).
11. Qualified Low Carbon Consultant.
12. Chartered Energy Manager.
13. Project management experience.
