IT Hardware & Refurbishment Technician
Type: Full-Time / 40 hours per week
Salary: £27,000 per year*
(*Plus monthly performance bonuses and annual profit share)
Start Date: Within 4 weeks
About Us
We’re Laptop Station— an award-winning, independent retailer specialising in refurbished laptops. Based in the heart of Bracknell, Berkshire, our fast-growing business thrives on quality tech, top-notch service, and a small, passionate team. With multiple brands under our wing and a growing online and retail presence, no two days are ever the same.
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on, tech-savvy individual to join our refurbishment team. This might be your dream job if you enjoy tinkering with hardware, solving IT puzzles, and making old laptops feel new again.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Receiving & Inspecting Deliveries: Unbox laptops from our suppliers, give them a thorough once-over, and check for quality before anything goes into stock.
* Hardware Refurbishment: Carry out memory and storage upgrades, replace drives, and get your hands inside the machines.
* Operating System Installs: Reinstall Windows 10 and 11, format drives, navigate BIOS settings, and install drivers like a pro.
* Quality Assurance & Dispatch Prep: Test, test, and test again. You’ll be the last line of defence before laptops go out to customers.
* General Troubleshooting: Diagnose common issues — why won’t it boot? Why’s the screen flickering? Where’s the Wi-Fi gone? You’ll help us figure it out.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience reinstalling operating systems (Windows 10/11), formatting disks, adjusting BIOS settings, and installing drivers.
* Comfortable stripping down desktops or laptops, fitting memory, drives, and getting hands-on with components.
* Confident in troubleshooting typical IT problems like failed boots, faulty accessories, or misbehaving hardware.
Desirable (but not essential):
* Prior experience working at a computer repair company or in a similar role.
* Confident using email and live chat to communicate with customers.
* Happy to answer the phone and help out if a customer’s in need.
About You:
You’re probably someone who loves gaming, hardware, or fixing up machines for fun. Maybe you’ve repaired your mates’ laptops, built your own PC, or just love to tinker. We’re not fussy about qualifications - you don’t need a degree or shiny GCSEs. What you do need is curiosity, a good work ethic, and the ability to explain things clearly (especially to non-techie customers).
* Starting salary of £27,000 per year
* Monthly performance bonuses
* Free on-site parking (we’ll cover the cost)
* Access to an on-site café with hot/cold drinks, sweet treats, and lunch daily — on us
* This role is not open to recruitment agencies
* We’re looking for someone ready to start within the next 4 weeks
