About The Role
We are looking for a Contracts Manager to join our Defence & Adjacent Markets division.
Reporting to the Regional Manager you will take responsibility for managing long term framework across our varied portfolio of civil infrastructure works in the safety and operationally critical environment based in Kent/ West/East Kent.
The role:
The Contract Manager’s purpose is to take ownership of all projects under their control; from client-liaison & ECI, tender, delivery to close-out and hand-over.
They will manage a project delivery team, including the line-management of Project Managers, ensuring that they have the correct resources to deliver the works.
The Contracts Manager will have Commercial ownership of the project, and will work closely with the Regional Manager and the Commercial team, to ensure that risks and issues are managed effectively allowing successful project delivery.
It is key that the Contracts Manager can build effective working relationships quickly with a variety of stakeholders and personalities. They should be comfortable in a variety of settings, able to adapt to their surroundings. This will enable them to develop relationships with key repeat clients (such as ongoing Frameworks) and have a clear understanding of the forward workload/pipeline to feed into the monthly cost and forecasting cycle.
Key duties & responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including Health, Safety and Sustainability. Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact operations.
2. Deliver of contracts in line with business objectives, considering available & required resources to maintain safety, quality and reputation
3. To achieve business plan revenue and EBITDA targets for the relevant contracts under their control. Achieve average WIP weeks target and review and report and adapt as necessary.
4. To work collaboratively with other Contracts Managers.
5. Oversee the day-to-day operation of contracts under to ensure safety, efficiency and effectiveness.
6. Manage project controls and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and identify areas for improvement and implement change where required.
7. Identify and mitigate contract specific risks that may impact the organisation.
Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential disruptions.
8. Build and retain client relationship and understand the clients needs.
9. Ensure that operational processes align with customer expectations and satisfaction.
Qualifications & Knowledge:
10. Hold an HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent in a Civil Engineering related subject
11. Strong Client engagement skills
12. Drive and passion to win work and deliver excellence continuously.
13. Demonstrable experience within the civil engineering and infrastructure sector
14. Commitment to the highest practicable standards of health & safety, quality and environmental protection
15. A proven ability to manage and track contracts from tender through to completion
16. A thorough understanding of CDM roles and SHEQ duties
17. Recognised site safety management course e.g., Construction Skills Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Managing Safely in Construction or equivalent
18. Experienced in managing delivery teams. Ranging from numerous smaller contracts to large multi-million-pound contracts
19. Excellent written and oral communication skills
