The Chief Nursing Officer for England (CNO) has a vision to bring together a collective leadership model across the country with a focus on transformational leadership, research, and innovation within which everyone has a voice, no matter where they work or the role they undertake.
The Pathway to Excellence programme is a global 'nursing excellence' framework that aims to create a positive practice environment for nursing staff. This has positively impacted registered nursing vacancy rates, reduced pressure ulcer rates, within trajectory rates for C. Difficile, a reduction in nursing complaints, and an improvement in National Inpatient Survey results.
The Professional Standards Lead Nurse role is key to progressing the work required to gain successful accreditation on the Pathway to Excellence Programme, including the preparation, application, and final submission, while ensuring the meeting of ambitious timescales.
As part of the CNO vision, the collective leadership aspect includes a ward accreditation programme, shared decision making, and nursing and midwifery leadership, including a recognition programme. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of this.
If you provide support to a family member or friend with health or care needs, we aim to be a Carer-friendly employer. We have a 'Staff Carers' policy which includes flexible working where possible and a Carer's Passport scheme that links you into support and discounts.
