We are currently looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist, who can provide overall support for the clinical leadership of the service. This post is based in Bedford, which is easily accessible via public transport. About the role: As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will be working in a clinical and service development capacity to ensure the service to patients is planned, delivered and evaluated in line with evidence-based practice. Your main responsibilities as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist: Be responsible for the delivery of specialist speech and language therapy input to appropriate adults across the general medical wards. You will identify, assess and diagnose communication/swallowing impairments and formulate evidence based therapy plans for effective treatment. Case management and provision of specialist Speech & Language Therapy using models of best practice to assess the client’s needs, and provide care planning, therapy, advice and support for the patient. Provide support & training to those within the ward based teams and the wider SLT team. Take a key role in the Videofluoroscopy service upon completion of MBSImP competencies, with support from other MBSImP competent therapists. Be responsible for the supervision of support practitioners and volunteers.
