University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) - based at South Bristol Academy - seeks applicants for Clinical Teaching Fellows to commence in August 2024 for one year. There are a number of posts available for one year.
The post provides an ideal opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a highly active undergraduate clinical teaching setting which is part of a busy inner-city University Hospital. The successful candidates will be part of the South Bristol Academy team, will be actively involved in organising and delivering undergraduate medical education on behalf of the University of Bristol, and will be encouraged to undertake a funded Certificate in Teaching & Learning for Healthcare Professionals.
8 sessions each week are allocated for teaching undergraduate medical education and 2 sessions are allocated for clinical service in a specialty area of their choice.

Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Empathy and Sensitivity: has the capacity and motivation to take in others' perspectives and to treat others with understanding
* At least 2 years' experience (at Foundation Level or above) in appropriate posts
* At least 12 months' experience of working in the NHS
* Conceptual Thinking and Problem Solving: has the capacity to think beyond the obvious, with an analytical and flexible mindset
* Organisation and Planning: is able to organise information and time effectively
* Team involvement: is able to work effectively in partnership with others
* Management: is able to take the lead in certain situations
* Previous involvement in undergraduate teaching
Qualifications and Training
* MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
* Eligibility to work in the UK
* Evidence of experience of and enthusiasm for teaching
* Is up to date and fit to practice safely
* Has undertaken additional teaching courses or qualification
* Sympathetic attitude: you will be required to provide pastoral support to students in difficulty at times
* Coping with pressure: capacity to recognise own limitations and develop appropriate coping mechanisms
