Cardio-Respiratory Department
We have a Band 4 post available and are looking for a responsible, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to take up the position.
The work involved includes routine ECG recording, Ambulatory monitor hook-up, working shift patterns including nights and weekends, assisting with specialised procedures, supervising junior staff
The post is 37.5 hours a week and will be based at both Whiston and St Helens sites.

To assist with the provision of Cardio-Respiratory services throughout the Trust and partnership agencies and to ensure the delivery of a high standard, quality service in an extended role to that of a basic Cardiographer.

Our services:
Acute Care
Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.
Primary Care
Providing primary care services at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre situated in St Helens Hospital.
Community Services
Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Key Duties
• ECG’s throughout the Trust – wards, clinics, A & E and other departments.
• Cardiac monitoring during clinical procedures eg. cardioversions, carotid sinus massage and valsalva manoeuvres.
• Basic spirometry and Peak Flows.
• Arterial blood gas analysis.
• Non-invasive BP measurement.
• Blood glucose measurement.
• Holter monitoring, 24 hr ambulatory ECG & BP hook up.
• Actively participate at cardiac arrests, with ILS training.
• Use of external pacemaker.
• Participate in audit collection.
• Assist with Exercise Tolerance Tests - 2ndperson attending.
• Assist with Tilt Table tests – 2ndperson assisting.
• Responsible for mouth guard in TOE’s.
• Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and reporting of any faults to a senior physiologist.
