Job Title: Health & Safety Manager
Location: Leicester
Hours: Monday to Friday Full time
About the role:
Working for a leading manufacturing business in Leicester as the Health & Safety Manager, you’ll work in partnership with the Operations, Central, and Development teams leading on H&S Safety strategy and all associated policies and procedures. This is a key role for someone who can balance operational safety with strategic planning, ensuring a culture of safety and compliance at all levels. You will be based at their head office location situated close to the centre of Leicester.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
2. Responsible for accident investigations and take precaution to prevent reoccurrence.
3. Manage and coordinate Employee wellbeing, working alongside the HR Team.
4. Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
5. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
6. Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors on all health and safety matters.
7. Collaborate with management to promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the organization.
8. Security checks across both buildings and checking in with staff members on the shop floor, including morning walkabouts across both sites.
9. Set direction for effective health and safety management and appropriate workplace wellbeing programmes for staff.
10. Review and develop all aspects of health, safety, and wellbeing policies and activity, and ensure that it is implemented consistently across the organisation.
11. Monitor, evaluate, and review existing, new, and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensure systems and procedures are in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements.
12. Work proactively with the Operations Team and other key staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of health, safety, and wellbeing within their areas of responsibility.
What We’re Looking For:
1. NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent certification is essential.
2. A good understanding of occupational health, COSHH, WEEE Regs & DSEAR.
3. 2 to 5 years of working in a Health & Safety position.
4. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
5. Leadership ability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving safety challenges.
6. A confident and friendly manner with the ability to liaise with people at all levels.
7. Personable and empathetic nature.
8. Ability to handle and safeguard sensitive and confidential information.
9. Working knowledge of MS Office packages.
