£DOE + accommodation + personal development opportunities
Ready to step into a role where your experience actually matters?
Keen to grow with a business that wants to invest in you, not just the crops?
This opportunity is all about long-term growth - yours and theirs. You'll be joining a team that's serious about quality, innovation, and getting the best out of every acre.
With two key crops - lettuce and carrots - this is a role where your commercial veg experience will shine, and where your leadership skills will have real impact.
What you'll be doing day-to-day:
You'll be managing two key crops: lettuce and carrots.
You'll work closely with the owner of the business, drawing on his wealth of experience.
You'll lead the farming team of 6 permanent staff, plus seasonal workers (up to 75 at peak). The team is a mixture of experienced people, and junior people. You'll get to work with the junior team to develop their skills and pass on your knowledge.
Your core focus is growing high-quality crops efficiently. You'll be supporting in the crop production plan, and responsible for getting it done. From land sourcing and planning, to sourcing raw materials, to managing the machinery.
Your days will be spent crop walking, working with an external agronomist, and creating spray and fertiliser programmes.
This role needs a lot of organisation and forward planning. You'll coordinate machinery maintenance, irrigation, and equipment movements, ensure the team know what they need to do on the day-to-day whilst planning for the times ahead.
This is a mix of hands-on leadership and office-based planning. You won't be expected to jump on a tractor every day-but you'll know how things work and be ready to step in if needed.
They want to improve their processes and efficiencies, and they want to your opinion. You'll be drawing on your knowledge, creating a plan for improvements and implementing these changes.
What you'll bring:
You might be a current assistant farm manager looking to step up, or farm manager who's hit the ceiling. Maybe you're ready for more input, more scope, and the chance to shape a business.
Either way, this is a great step up.
You'll have a background in vegetable cropping and understand the intensity of the operation. You might not have experience in lettuce and carrots, but if you're happy to learn, they're happy to train.
Arable backgrounds? Possibly-if you've got the right mindset and drive to diversify your crop knowledge.
You'll be a confident communicator - not afraid to give an opinion or steer a discussion and know how to lead a team and pride yourself on getting the most out of them.
FACTS and BASIS are a bonus - but they'll happily support this training if you don't have them.
Why join them?
They're not trying to be the biggest-they're focused on being the best. The key investment for them this year is you.
Here's what you can expect:
1. High-spec machinery that's already been invested in
2. Full support for training and personal development
3. A collaborative team that values innovation
4. Exposure to the full process-from planning and planting to harvest and sales.
5. A stable, long-term role where you'll be encouraged to grow.
