Job overview
Choices College (formerly Project Choice) is a supported internship programme that aims to support young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities or autism to become employment ready. The role of a student support worker is to support our interns on a one-to-one basis within a workplace setting to enable them to reach their full potential.
Due to the bespoke nature of this project, we cannot accurately predict the number of hours support the students will need, and the level of support may fluctuate across the academic year. For these reasons, we cannot guarantee the number of hours offered. This is a 0 hour contract. These posts are therefore only suited to applicants that do not require guaranteed full-time hours and are able to be flexible on the hours worked and areas worked within a local geographical area.
We are currently looking for candidates to support in the North East, Middlesbrough, Sheffield, Manchester, Lincoln and London areas. Willingness to travel is essential.
Main duties of the job
The College support worker's main duties will include attending work placements with the students to support and develop the learning and embedding of work-based tasks, and maintaining weekly detailed individual records for each student that meet inspection requirements.
A passion for supporting students with SEN to meet their full potential is essential for this role.
Key areas of responsibility include:
* Managing the day-to-day delivery of 1:1 support for a student with autism or learning disability.
* Delivering high-quality TSI-based learning.
* Supporting mentors to support students.
* The interpretation of sensitive information to support very anxious students to learn to work.
* Assisting in the development of bespoke learning.
* Reporting and communicating information effectively and efficiently to area manager and mentor.
* Supporting the student 1:1 in a classroom environment.
Working for our organisation

* Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.

* Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values, and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care.
* Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation.
