We have seven services in the Western Bay area, including a 4 bed emergency, out of hours service, four supported accommodation services and two step down properties. This post will be based across all of these services in Swansea and Gorseinon. Job Specifics Full Time – 37 hours Permanent Contract Salary for this role is £27,510 Work Pattern: Mon - Fri It is essential for the successful candidate to have a full drivers licence and access to a vehicle. Where does the role fit in? Our Young Persons Services provide 24-hour temporary housing support in the Swansea and Gorseinon area for young people aged between 16 and 24 years old. We support young people to develop independent living skills to enable them to move onto independent sustainable accommodation. Day to Day Duties: As a Housing Intervention Officer your day will consist of: Managing your own caseload Traveling to the services to engage our young people in the move on process, from supported accommodation into their own independent tenancy in the community. Supporting our Young People with applications for the Move On Panel. Liaising with the Move on Panel, Local Authority Housing teams, Registered Social Landlords and Private landlords to explore and maximise move on opportunities for our young people. Helping our young people get set up in their new tenancy. Supporting our Young People to secure grant funding to enable them to purchase essential items for their new home. Offering ad-hoc, crisis, intervention support to ensure our Young People sustain their new tenancies. Supporting the Local Authority and Housing Support Grant Teams to deliver on the Welsh Government’s Homelessness Strategy. Attending Rapid Rehousing Forums and other relevant multiagency meetings. Writing support plans, risk assessments and reviews. Completion of HSG outcomes and keeping up to date records for monitoring purposes. Keeping accurate records of interactions with our service users. Supporting with benefit queries and applications so a good knowledge and understanding is required Working with external agencies and signposting the people we support to the appropriate services suited to their needs Support to access appropriate health services (Mental health services, GP, Dentist) Our aim is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to sustain their new home independently. This is a fast paced, diverse role where every day is different, responding to the needs of our Young People. You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours so you will need to be able to adapt your approach and use initiative. You will engage with a diverse cliental and require a good level of knowledge on welfare benefits, housing legislation including the Renting Homes Act Wales and the issues faced by young people at risk of homelessness. You need to be able to drive and have access to a vehicle for this role and you will also require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.
