Elvet Chartered Surveyors is a multidiscipline surveying practice specialising in Building Surveying, Asset Management, Cost Management and Project Management. Based in the north-east we boast an impressive portfolio of clients with experience across a wide range of sectors including local authority, residential, infrastructure, education and commercial.
Elvet have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate / Assistant Building Surveyor who is motivated, ambitious and professional to complement our growing team. The role will be in our Durham office at Portland House, Belmont Business Park, DH1 1TW.
Typically you will work with a senior colleague assisting with the following duties:
* General building surveying to residential and commercial buildings.
* Project management and Contract Administration duties.
* Compiling condition surveys.
* Producing drawings using AutoCAD.
* Preparing planning applications and Building Regulations compliance.
* Undertaking building and site surveys.
* Applying building pathology and assisting in the diagnosis of defects.
* Preparing schedules of work and specifications.
* Green issues, sustainable design and low carbon technology.
* Quality Control.
* Party Wall instructions.
* Understand the principles of quality, safety and the environment within the management of projects.
* Report to your line manager and undertake work activities as defined by your manager.
* Any other duties as may be reasonably required.
We are seeking high calibre candidates with the below criteria:
* Minimum qualification is BSc (HONS) Building Surveying with some experience.
* Exhibit a sound understanding of all Microsoft Office software programs.
* Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Able to work as part of a team or unsupervised.
* Strong analytical skills and able to demonstrate technical and commercial acumen.
* Experience of using AutoCAD and Revit software to produce drawings.
* Possess a clean driving licence and transport.
* Good team working skills and ability to communicate well at all levels.
* Prepared to travel as required.
* Started / or prepared to start your APC to to become a chartered member of the RICS
Salary:
* Competitive salary subject to experience.
* 35hrs per week, Monday to Friday (4.5 days)
