Knowledge and Qualifications
* A postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific discipline
* Experience supervising editorial workflows on scholarly journals (preferably STM)
* Experience of project management
* Excellent written communication skills
* Strong understanding of research ethics and editorial policies relating to good publication practices and experience of content assessment
* Knowledge and experience of process-driven workflows.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, content management and/or customer relationship management systems.
* Data literacy: ability to analyse, summarize and interpret data
Overall role summary:
This role reports in to and supports the Ethics and Integrity Senior Operations Manager to implement and monitor across journals, the effective deployment of required research integrity and ethics checks via new or refined tools and processes, the consistent adherence of journals to editorial policies, and will work with the Content Integrity Screening team on the submissions to selected journals as required.
Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to:
* Tools and processes:
* Set up and coordinate tests and pilots of external (third party) and internal manuscript screening tools, including with other teams when appropriate.
* Set up the testing framework and feedback sheets
* Select sample for testing where required
* Coordinate assignments within participating teams, including ensuring deadlines are met
* Contribute to the test/pilot as tester, as required
* Take on assignments to contribute to the testing
* Collect, analyse data and present results
* Compare tool score/results/report to manual assessment to record agreement
* Analyse results (accuracy and sensitivity)
* Summarize and present results to Senior Operations Manager
* Prepare presentations for broader dissemination within the business
* Content Integrity Screening (CIS)
* Support the Senior Operations Manager in providing feedback to escalations from the team
* Provide advice on tricky cases, or liaise with the Senior Operations Manager and other PEI team member if further advice is needed
* Set up, coordinate and analyse results of journal audits
* Prepare audit sheets and sample
* With the CIS Senior Manager, coordinate assignments within the team
* Analyse results and present to the Senior Operations Manager and other PEI leaders as required
* Draft, review and update manuscript assessment checklists, templates and other reference material as directed
