Job overview
The Kolvin Service comprises a regional community adolescent forensic mental health service, a nationally commissioned FCAMHS provision; and mental health and forensic services into two Secure Children's Homes in the North East for young people aged 10-18 years.
The Kolvin Service collaboratively leads on the implementation of the SECURE STAIRS framework at Aycliffe Secure Centre and Kyloe House Secure Children's Homes. The SECURE STAIRS framework represents a shift in focus within the secure estate from interventions focused solely at young people to trauma-informed care focused on the whole system.
We are looking for a dedicated individual to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop the delivery of the Clinical and Forensic Psychology services provided by the Kolvin Service.
Main duties of the job
The current position will be based at Kyloe House. The post holder will be complementing and developing a multi-disciplinary service provision. The post holder will also contribute to the multi-disciplinary team embedding the SECURE STAIRS framework at the Secure Children's Homes.
They will therefore need to be (commensurate with experience) confident in providing high quality, evidence-based assessments and interventions, have experience of psychotherapies, trauma-informed care, and have an understanding and experience of working with young people with mental health, behavioural and emotional difficulties in complex environments and demonstrable research competency.
Employing leadership skills to embed trauma-informed care will be a key component of the role. Developing and delivering staff training and reflective practice will also form part of this role.
The post holder will possess excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work independently. There will be a requirement to share knowledge and skills specific to communication with other members of the team including stakeholders.
Regular support and supervision will be available, and professional supervision will be provided by a senior psychologist. The post holder will be expected to actively engage in the supervision and the continuing professional development process.

Person specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society.
* HCPC registered practitioner psychologist
* Experience of two or more distinct psychological therapies.
Desirable criteria
* Qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
* Substantial post qualification experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings. Experience linked to young people.
* Demonstrate further specialist training and experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months or an alternative agreed by the Psychological Services Professional Lead.
* Substantial post qualification experience of delivering evidence based psychological training to a range of groups. Experience linked to young people.
* Substantial experience of providing clinical supervision.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex multivariable data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the young people and mental health.
* Record of having published in either peer reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books.
Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria
* Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
* Well-developed teaching & training skills.
* Well-developed skills in providing clinical supervision and consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
* Formal training in clinical supervision of trainee clinical psychologists and other staff.
