About us
* An inpatient CAMHS social worker plays a crucial role in supporting young people admitted to mental health units, working alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care.
* They play a vital role in bridging the gap between mental health services, social care and family life, ensuring that vulnerable young people reci8eve the best possible support during and after hospitalisation.
About the Role
* The role will include assessment and safeguarding where you will undertake psychosocial assessments to understand the young person’s background, family dynamics, and risk factors.
* Identify safeguarding concerns and work with child protection services if required.
* Liaise with local authorities regarding child protection plans, car orders, or looked after children.
* Work closely with families to ensure they understand the young person’s mental health needs providing them with emotional and practical support.
* Mediating family conflicts and improving communication between young people and their care givers.
* Collaborate with mental health colleagues in the development of care plans, production of assessments and reports.
* Advocate for young people’s needs ensuring they receive appropriate care and treatment.
* Advocate for the young person’s wishes and ensuring their rights are upheld within the Hospital setting.
* Work with external agencies such as schools, youth offending teams and the criminal justice system.
* Ensure legal frameworks such as the Children Act 1989/2004, the Mental Health Act, and the Care Act are followed.
* Attend Child in Need meetings, safeguarding conferences and mental health tribunals as required.
About you
* You will contribute to the health and well-being of young people during their hospital admission by providing a quality and effective social work provision and ensure that all statutory duties are carried out in an appropriate and timely manner in line with the professional standards for social work (Social Work England).
* You will work in partnership with young people through empowering and supporting them to make informed decisions concerning their recovery and continued care.
* You will ensure that the young person is central to a personalised and flexible case management approach that promotes recovery, understands that ‘motivation to change’ is a dynamic and fluid process, and recognise the need to work at an individual pace that supports young people.
* You will be fully conversant in the procedures to be followed to safeguard vulnerable adults and children.
* You will ensure that full consideration is given to victim issues, and consistently ensure the rights of any victims and associated confidentiality remain at the forefront of your practice.
* You will focus on recovery, inclusion, personalisation, intervention and help build resilience with the young person and their families/carers.
* You will regularly liaise with partner and external agencies for the purpose of achieving the best outcomes for the young person.
* You will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team with a clear identity as a social worker.
* You will undertake statutory duties such as the completion of reports for mental health Tribunals and will act as an Appropriate Adult.
* Youn will contribute to legal processes in partnership with the Local Authority where applicable.
* You will maintain high standards of quality in clinical record keeping ensuring that information is always recorded accurately, appropriately and kept up to date.
* If you are an AMHP then you will provide this statutory responsibility to Salford’s AMHP rota.
* You will work flexibly as per the needs of the service.
* You will undertake other reasonable and similar duties which may be allocated from time to time that are commensurate with the general character and grading of the post.

* Proven technical skills and ability in the role with a record of accomplishment for delivering outcomes.
* Professional credibility through proven relevant experience.
* Recognised professional social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
* To have a thorough understanding of the needs of young people who present with complex mental health.
* To work collaboratively and effectively with the multidisciplinary team, partner agencies, families, friends, and carers.
* An ability to make effective and timely decisions that place the young person at the centre.
* An ability to adapt to service needs.
* To have a good understanding of the models of supervision and use this to achieve the best practice standards from the social work team.
* To have a sound knowledge base of all legislation that impacts the young person and their recovery.
* An ability to produce assessment and reports of a high standard.
* To be open and transparent in all areas of service delivery to strengthen the social work performance.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month.
