Overview
We are seeking a SEND teacher, who can offer English, as their main subject, to join our pupil referral unit in Enfield. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their language skills, critical thinking, and a love for literature. This role requires a commitment to fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence.
The School
We are committed to ensuring that every child who comes through our doors is given the tools and opportunities to achieve their academic goals. There are various referral routes into the school. We provide a variety of short and long-term placements for students at Key Stage 3 and 4. We work in conjunction with the Local Authority and in partnership with local schools to ensure we are the right provision for referred students.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to diverse learning styles.
2. Teach English language and literature, focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
3. Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and class participation.
4. Provide constructive feedback to students to encourage improvement and growth.
5. Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and collaboration.
6. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
7. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
8. Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
The person
1. A degree in English, Education, or a related field is preferred, but not essential.
2. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification is highly desirable.
3. Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and effective teaching methodologies.
4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students of varying abilities.
5. English at the secondary level is an advantage but not essential.
6. A passion for literature and the ability to inspire students through creative teaching approaches.
7. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in lesson planning and assessment.
