Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager who has worked across Government contracts and is based in Scotland (or within a reasonable commute). If you live outside of the Scottish region, please note that regular travel will be expected.
The Project Manager will lead a mobilisation project across a number of government contracts. This exciting role will lead the set up and coordination of key activities across a number of workstreams (including HR, Operations, IT and Quality) driving the successful implementation of services. This role is initially 6 months fixed term with the view to extend, the position will be remote and require national travel.
The Project Manager will have a strong background in project management, with specific experience in central government mobilisations. They will have excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, coupled with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the government contracts sector and understand the challenges and opportunities within the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Working with a team of workstream leads including (HR, Commercial, Operations, Quality, Marketing, IT and Training) to develop and execute a comprehensive mobilisation plan across all workstreams.
2. Ensuring all workstream leads, suppliers and key stakeholders are aligned and remain bought into the plan with clear ownership and accountability.
3. Engaging and communicating effectively and proactively with all key stakeholder groups.
4. Proactively identifying and managing mobilisation issues, risks, constraints, and dependencies; clearly articulating key risks and issues to the wider programme, as required.
5. Taking ownership and seeking out innovative risk mitigations and solutions to issues with workstream leads and other stakeholders.
6. Regularly programme reporting on progress against key milestones and risks and issues to senior internal and external stakeholders through formal governance structures.
7. Working closely with operational, finance and commercial colleagues to ensure adherence to contractual, commercial, and operational obligations/requirements.
8. Planning for and delivering an agreed handover to Business as Usual (BAU) with agreed acceptance criteria and operational owners.
9. Documenting and agreeing acceptance criteria and owners for other Stage Gates, facilitating reviews and providing necessary evidence.
10. Leading regular project and individual workstream meetings and calls with internal teams, 3rd party providers and client stakeholders.
11. Creating a project team environment that stimulates a positive 'can do' approach, enabling individuals to contribute and realise their potential.
Person Specification:
1. Professional qualifications in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
2. Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
3. Strong understanding of the Scottish prison system.
4. Knowledge of safeguarding practices and risk management.
5. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
8. Adaptability and resilience in challenging environments.
9. Commitment to social justice and educational equity.
10. Familiarity with government policies related to prison education and rehabilitation.
11. Proven experience in project / mobilisation management, ideally in education, social justice, or criminal justice sectors.
