My client is a Building Services & Specialist Contractor established in 2003 with 8 offices throughout the UK.
As a business, they employ 300+ staff nationally and are expected to turnover £55Mil+ this year.
Working within the Commercial & Public Sectors, their sites are generally located in London, Surrey, Kent & Sussex.
Due to business growth, they are now seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor (with 1 - 3 years experience) from a Construction or Carpentry background to join their team in Gatwick.
THE JOB - Junior Quantity Surveyor
Monday - Friday / 8am - 4pm
You will be working alongside a Senior Quantity Surveyor, splitting your time between being office-based and carrying out surveys on site.
You will be assigned to one of their major contracts, which is busy and intense. There will be reactive works ranging from £500k up to projects of £1mil.
Responsibilities:
1. Admin: Ensuring all admin duties are kept up to date.
2. Cost Estimation: Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets for M&E projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
3. Procurement: Collaborate with the procurement team to source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, negotiate pricing and terms, and assist in the selection of vendors.
4. Bill of Quantities: Assist in the preparation of detailed bills of quantities (BOQ) and schedules of rates for M&E elements of construction projects.
5. Tendering Process: Support the senior quantity surveyor in the tendering process, including analysing and evaluating tender submissions, assisting with subcontractor selection, and preparing tender reports.
6. Contract Administration: Assist in the preparation, review, and administration of contracts, including subcontract agreements, variations, and change orders.
7. Cost Control: Monitor project costs and expenditures, track variations, and assist in the preparation of cost reports. Identify cost-saving opportunities and suggest value engineering options.
8. Valuations and Payments: Assist in the preparation of interim and final valuations for M&E works, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements. Review and verify subcontractor payment applications.
9. Cost Reporting: Contribute to regular cost reporting to the project team and clients, providing updates on project financial status, variations, and cash flow projections.
10. Claims and Dispute Resolution: Assist in the evaluation and preparation of claims, as well as participate in dispute resolution processes, such as negotiations and mediation.
11. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

£30,000 - £50,000
