Trainee or Qualified Senior Pharmacy Assistant

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual interested in developing skills within hospital pharmacy services. You will gain experience in the pharmacy dispensary and clinical service whilst working towards a Level 2 qualification in pharmacy. Previous pharmacy experience would be an advantage; however, full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You must be able to adapt to changing demands and be committed to providing a high-quality patient-focused service.
Applications are welcomed from candidates that already hold a GPhC recognised Level 2 qualification in pharmacy. These applicants, if successful at interview, will be appointed at a band 3.
Candidates must have GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above or an equivalent qualification. Candidates must also meet the essential criteria of the person specification.
Please note: this is a part-time position for 22.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
The role of the successful candidate will include:
* Dispensing discharge and stock controlled drug prescription requests.
* Checking patients' own medicines on admission and ordering patient-specific medicines under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
* Supporting to facilitate the discharge process.
* Ensuring the pharmacy waste and medication returns are dealt with appropriately and disposed of or returned according to Trust waste guidelines and departmental procedures.
* Providing a reception service for outpatients and supporting the timely organisation of the dispensary workload.
* Providing delivery support where applicable.
* Ordering and maintaining stock as part of an allocated weekly ward top-up.
* Participation in the weekend and bank holiday rota.

Education for Band 2
