About this opportunity:
Are you an experienced finance professional and considering a change of role? If the answer is yes, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our team at Cumberland Council.
We are looking for experienced finance professionals (AAT, part qualified CCAB, or relevant experience) who possess strong technical and analytical skills and are keen to make a significant contribution to shaping the future of the Finance team and Cumberland.
You will be part of a team delivering a high performing, customer focused service that is proactive, creative and will help to shape and support Council Services, working in a role that will empower budget holders to make informed and clear decisions about their service areas.
You will support the Finance Manager in providing flexible and professional financial services to support the management of the Council budget in accordance with the Council Plan.
Each role will be assigned to a service within Cumberland Council as part of our Business Partnering model, with areas including:
1. High needs finance officer: working with the SEND team and schools to monitor the Council’s high needs dedicated schools grant position.
2. Place: supporting the service team with monitoring on regeneration and infrastructure projects.
3. Corporate services: supporting the accounting function of the Council to meet all necessary statutory deadlines.
Opportunities to work across other areas of the team will be available.
Who we’re looking for:
* Experienced finance professional (AAT, part qualified CCAB or relevant experience)
* Extensive practical knowledge and technical background in accounting covering all aspects of budget preparation, monitoring, year-end accounting and the application of current accounting standards
* Good communication skills including experience of training / coaching one on one or in a group environment.
* Excellent Excel and data analysis skills.
* Someone who is driven, who would like to grow and develop with the business to build a long-term career.
