About the role As a Legal Assistant (Planning & Highways), you will support legal services working closely with senior colleagues to deliver effective legal advice and support. Your role will involve managing a varied caseload of transactional work, including drafting essential legal documentation such as section 106 planning agreements and highways agreements. This is an ideal position if you are looking to gain hands-on experience in local government legal work while contributing to the Council’s strategic objectives. What You’ll Be Doing Managing and preparing documentation for a range of planning and highway related agreements; Responding to enquiries from client departments, the public and external bodies; Keeping up to date with legal developments and implementing changes to the Council’s policies as required; Collaborating with a team of legal professionals to develop your expertise. About You You’ll need a good standard of education with qualifications such as GCSEs or comparable experience. A legal qualification is advantageous but not essential if you have relevant experience. Key skills include: Confidence in drafting legal documentation for planning and highways matters; Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines; A customer-focused approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; A flexible and collaborative approach to work.
