The role… We are currently recruiting an Architectural Technologist to join our Nottingham office. The role will involve working as an Architectural Technologist to provide architectural design services and project management across a broad spectrum of services provided by the Practice. This will mainly be focused on defence, secure infrastructure, and aviation industries. The role will need the candidate to be experienced in coordinating a multi-disciplinary design team, providing technical design solutions in a process driven environment and the ability to prepare technical packages from conception through to completion. Further information can be found at: National security vetting: clearance levels - GOV.UK The selected candidate will… Oversee and manage the quantity of work and time management of the Architectural Design Team and wider internal teams. Have a clear understanding of client expectation, including their aims for the development of the brief. (RIBA 1-7). Mainly focusing on RIBA Stage 3-5. Manage internal and external consultants to ensure fully integrated design solutions are prepared and delivered. Be responsible for project administration from inception to completion, including project value ranges under a variety of forms of contract. Produce feasibility reports for clients, that fully considers statutory restrictions and client briefing from outset. Produce design concepts for competitive tender including production of working drawings and plans and produce pre-tender estimates and obtain costs from suppliers. Provide technical input for preparation of BREEAM assessments, SBEM calculations, EPC’s etc, and integrate requirements into the drawings package as requested by specialists in or out of house. Produce Building Regulation drawings utilising various software (Revit / AutoCAD); make applications, answer and resolve queries with building control departments or consultancies, under the supervision of team leader. Liase with all necessary authorities in relation to client approval process, building regulation, planning applications, listed building applications and monitor and deal with as necessary. Prepare technical design packages fit for construction. Undertake tendering process and post tender analysis, including production of tender report to client and potential value engineering exercise and make recommendations to client where required by the contract/project. Continually improve team profitability by managing time and resources allocated to projects and by ensuring that time spent on projects is recorded and that fee invoicing is carried out at appropriate stages. Assist marketing the Architecture service and the Practice including assisting senior staff with client presentations and the production of: Brochure Sheets Company portfolios Quotations for clients Bids for new instructions Take an active role in acquiring new contract leads and repeat business across disciplines by networking during and outside of the working day Promote other disciplines/expertise offered by the Practice on every project. To work within Practice policies and in particular in accordance with the Practice QA standards and make suggestions as to how policies may be developed. Participate in the Practice design group and in the review meetings, to agree and develop marketing initiatives. Ensure that the architectural aspiration of the Practice is represented in the produced work. Strive to ensure that the highest standards of work are produced ranging from work under your control to other project work produced in the office. Be aware of the scope of services for each project and be mindful of this on a day-to-day basis with a view to seeking additional fees where possible in the context of a balanced relationship with the client. Take ownership of/responsibility for matters arising from projects under control. Deliver technical and co-ordination aspects of projects under portfolio control and ensure excellence of delivery. Take day-to-day responsibility for ensuring project portfolio is kept on track and assigned resource is informed of short- and long-term goals within programme. Complete tasks as assigned by the team leader. Assist in project delivery during construction. Attend site meetings as appropriate. Assist in and contribute to the regular review of activities to maximise effectiveness and delivery of working drawing packages. Write technical specifications utilising NBS, minimal supervision. Assist with projects being undertaken by other Ingleton Wood teams or offices as requested. Take responsibility for day to day job running of specific projects under the supervision of the team leader. Provide direction and feedback on team and individual objectives. Foster two-way communication and effective team-working. Be able to identify, manage and minimise risks (e.g. financial, business continuity, health & safety) Contribute to cross disciplinary activity. Essential skills, experience, and attributes… Degree in Architectural Technology. MCIAT or working towards the professional membership. Experience of AutoCAD. Experience of Revit.
