GRINDER - UNIVERSAL CYLINDRICAL
We are recruiting for an experienced Universal Cylindrical Grinder to work for our client who is located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
THE DUTIES OF A GRINDER:
1. Produce high quality precision ground cylindrical parts - worldwide.
2. Set up grinding machines / tool changes.
3. Work to tight tolerances.
4. Inspect own work.
5. Read engineering drawings.
6. Work for one of the UK's most respected precision machining companies in its sector.
7. Independently determine, set-up and operate grinding machines with appropriate grinding wheels, chucks, facing plates, centres or collets, whilst also selecting correct cutting speeds, feed rates and cutting depths.
8. Read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings on an array of components requiring any combination of external dressing, facing, chamfering and internal boring.
9. Achieve fine tolerances to within +/- 0.005mm on a range of alloys and steels, including hardened steels and carbides.
10. Using various types of handheld and static inspection equipment, inspect your own work as first off checks and inspect your colleagues' work in our four eyes policy.
11. Work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines without compromising demanding quality standards.
12. Perform daily activities within safe working practices.
13. Always maintain a safe working environment.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:
1. Minimum 15 years' experience in precision cylindrical grinding.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. Ability to use inspection / measuring equipment.
4. Read and interpret technical drawings.
5. Excellent math and problem-solving abilities.
6. Work to precision tolerances down to +/- 0.005mm.
7. Work with minimal supervision.
8. Attention to detail.
9. Good manual dexterity.
10. Operate equipment within company's safe working procedures.
11. Ability to work under pressure.
THE HOURS:
You will work a day shift - Monday-Thursday 7 am-3.30pm / Friday 7 am-2.30pm.
THE PAY:
You will earn an hourly rate of between £15 to £16.50 an hour depending on experience.
