Job overview
We are looking for a dedicated, positive individual to join a group of innovative, inspiring Occupational Therapists to support Occupational Therapy provision within Northumberland Children and Young People’s Service. The successful candidate will contribute their clinical role to the Complex Mental Health and Learning Disability Pathways.
The post holder will work in community settings, providing assessment and intervention packages for children and their families experiencing mental health difficulties impacting on occupational performance and engagement. Care coordination is a key component of this role.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the assessment and management of a caseload of service users with complex Occupational Therapy needs, diverse presentations, and a range of mental health difficulties.
2. Incorporate a client-centered philosophy into clinical practice and provide collaborative, compassionate care.
3. Develop collaborative formulations and intervention plans with service users and carers, ensuring regular reviews.
4. Deliver evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions with complex young people and their families.
5. Coordinate treatment planning and interventions carried out by Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioners.
6. Provide specialist clinical advice to Service Users/Carers, staff, and agencies.
7. Work as a member of the Multi-disciplinary Team to ensure high-quality individualized care.
8. Act as an identified deputy in the absence of the Professional Lead.
Person specification
Education and Qualification
* Recognised Occupational Therapy degree/qualification
* HCPC Registration
* Evidence of post-registration training in OT interventions relevant to the post.
* Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy
Knowledge and Experience
* Understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and RCOT standards.
* Proven track record of post-registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of providing Occupational Therapy services.
* Experience of collaborative working across agencies.
Skills and Competencies
* Proven ability to provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex needs.
* Risk Assessment and Risk Management skills.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
