As the Site Automation Manager (SAM), you be responsible for the automation, facilities, services, refrigeration, safety, and adherence to both legal requirements and Gist policies at the site. This role is crucial in ensuring that all engineering activities are aligned with the strategic objectives of the business while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency. You will report to the Site Engineering Manager (SEM) who oversees all site and automaton engineering, key stakeholders, including, Site General Manager (GM), Site Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Manager. Ensuring contractors are competent, aligned with Gist's safety culture and HSE requirements, possess sufficient insurance cover, and are effectively managed through the permit-to-work system Site Interface Duties : Participate in site safety audits and daily operations meetings as required, providing strong collaborative support as an integral part of the site’s functions Financial Budget Control : Support the SEM with the financial budgets for site and automation engineering, including the invoicing process, ensuring cost-effective operations Critical Spares Management : Ensure the availability and management of critical spares for site and automation engineering to consistently meet SLA requirements. Complete directed stock takes and cost capture for all inventory stock held on site for site and automation Tools and Equipment Management : Oversee the management and maintenance of site engineering tools and equipment, ensuring they are fit for purpose and available when needed Who you are: Experience in a facilities engineering/maintenance environment Experience in a large logistics/transport department/HGV Industry would be beneficial The Fleet Engineering Manager will have an excellent technical ability to identify and evaluate technical issues and potential risks and develop innovative solutions Qualified in engineering discipline; NVQ Lvl3 or higher Experience of operating within a unionised organisation is essential Experience in managing a small/medium team of engineers Refridgeration experience advantageous as working within a chilled environment Why Gist?
