Job Description
As the Shopper Marketing Team Lead, you will be part of the Category Development and Shopper Marketing team, which forms part of the wider Sales function. You will report directly to the Demand Accelerator Controller, working cross-functionally with other departments to deliver best-in-class Shopper Marketing executions across our grocery, wholesale, and out-of-home customers.
You will form a pivotal link between marketing and sales, including category development, defining the strategy, framework, and methodology to lead the activation and evaluation of shopper activations – ensuring our executions are delivering ROI and driving sales. Drive our initiatives and brands ensuring they are successfully marketed to the shopper, tailored to the customer, and drive purchase behavior.
Your remit will encompass being the shopper marketing lead for Tesco as well as managing a team who will cover all other priority customers across all channels.
You will manage the shopper marketing agency and be accountable for the shopper marketing budget. You will thrive from collaborating cross-functionally with Category Strategy, Category Development, Sales, and Marketing to deliver best-in-class activation for JDE brands and NPD big bets.
Responsible for shopper insight as well as measurement and evaluation, forms a key part of this role ensuring every pound we invest in activation has a positive ROI.
* Creating and embedding the shopper marketing strategy, ensuring you have a highly engaged team delivering best-in-class shopper marketing.
* Clear understanding of the shopper path to purchase, creating activations that deliver against all relevant touchpoints in Tesco.
* Brilliant external influence, responsible for bespoke/tailored activation in Tesco, leading our relationship with Dunnhumby Media to deliver our AOP plan on Tesco in collaboration with sales.
* Lead, coach, and develop a team of 2, plus an intern, to activate across all other priority customers to deliver our AOP plans – differentiating in priority customers.
* Create and execute a shopper marketing learning plan, building team capability, driving for shopper marketing excellence.
* Manage the shopper marketing agency, from pitch process through to ongoing ways of working – setting high standards and delivering best-in-class ideas/activations.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Minimum 7 years of experience in FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) marketing, shopper marketing, customer activation roles.
* FMCG / UK / Omni-channel market knowledge.
* Experience of working with the top 4 grocery retailers.
* Ability to identify insights across multiple data sources and drive to action.
* Good knowledge of English.
* Financial acumen: able to build and track simple P&Ls and manage budgets.
