The StaffBank for Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust is seeking enthusiastic Locum Consultant to join our pool of Staff Bank workers. There are many full-time roles available, but as they are ever-changing, the exact roles available will be provided once your Hiring & Recruitment is complete. Depending on previous relevant experience & NHS experience, higher banding/rates can be discussed. This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant to gain more experience and skills working within AMU, primarily at the St. Helier site.
Main duties of the job
Specialist physician in Acute Medicine, with an interest in a chosen specialty if desired. The post is a basic 10 + 0.5 programmed sessions (8 DCC, 0.5 DCC patient admin, 2 SPA). We aim to provide the SPA over 1 day to enable hybrid working. For those with another specialty interest, there is an opportunity to undertake 2 programmed DCC sessions in the chosen specialty if appropriate following discussion and agreement with the specialty department (6.5 Acute Medicine DCC, 2 Specialty DCC, 2 SPA). There will also be the opportunity to join the GIM on-call rota, providing an additional programmed session.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Essential: Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC.
Desirable: Entry onto the Specialist Register for GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCT.
Qualifications and Training:
* Appropriate higher medical qualification (e.g., MRCP/MRCS)
* MD or equivalent higher degree or evidence of relevant research
Clinical Experience:
* High standard of clinical skill and expertise in the specialty
* Able to contribute to the full range of skills required for the on-call rota for the specialty
Management & Administrative Experience:
* Audit/Research
* Attended a recognised management training event or will have such training on completion of CCT
* Supervision of postgraduate trainees
* Personal time management skills
* Clinical Governance
* Ability to organise inpatient and outpatient waiting lists
* Familiarity with issues of service organisation and development
Teaching Experience:
* Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
* Ability to teach clinical skills
* Experience of supervising junior doctors
* Ability to supervise postgraduate research
Research Experience:
* Ability to contribute to change management
* Ability to apply research findings to clinical problems
* Publications in peer-reviewed journals
Personal Attributes:
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
