Occupational Therapist Senior Practitioner

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and a real passion for Occupational Therapy within inpatient mental health to become an Occupational Therapy Senior Practitioner here at Meadowbrook on Chaucer Ward. Chaucer Ward is an 8-bedded male PICU.
We are looking for a pro-active and compassionate role model with highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills to support our Occupational Therapy Team in delivering an exceptional standard of care to our service users. We are looking for someone who will role model a 'can do' attitude and be flexible and adaptable in order to meet the needs of our diverse service and the changing demands associated with an acute mental health care setting.
Main Duties of the Job
The Post Holder will be responsible for:
* Coordination of day-to-day adult inpatient OT service delivery to ensure effective, consistent, and equitable access to OT services.
* Contributing to the development and evaluation of the OT service within the care group and taking a lead in aspects of service development.
* Working with the OT Professional Lead and Head of OT to agree on strategic professional action plans and implementation.
* Providing OT advice to the MDT.
* Providing specialist OT input to the planning, development, and evaluation of clinical services, holding responsibility for defined projects.
* Offering specialist OT assessments and interventions to a caseload of clients with complex needs, identifying barriers and supporting clients to achieve functional goals.
* Contributing to the planning, development, provision, and evaluation of the OT Services within the Salford inpatient Division as well as taking a lead in aspects of audit, standard setting, research, and development.
* Prioritising referrals for OT and providing an evidence-based OT service.
* Being responsible for professional provision.
* Providing professional supervision and induction to junior staff and students as well as training to students, staff colleagues, and other agencies.
* Having a flexible approach to working hours to meet the requirements of service users.
* Providing an OT perspective in inpatient management team meetings.

Person Specification
Education/Qualification
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Up-to-date registration with the relevant professional body.
* Diversity Awareness Training, AMPS Training, Model of Human Occupational Training, Care Programme Approach Training.
Experience & Knowledge
* Documented evidence of CPD, 3 years post-registration experience including at least 2 years within mental health.
* Experience of audit procedures, risk assessment, supervision of junior staff and students, service development, and extensive clinical experience of supporting clients to achieve functional goals.
* Specialist knowledge and application of evidence-based OT assessments and interventions relevant to mental health.
* Knowledge of mental health legislation, service governance, and its application, reflective practice, and the ability to analyze professional and ethical issues.
* Experience of working in a range of mental health settings, leadership experience, and personal experience of mental health issues.
* Knowledge and application of standardised assessments, knowledge of relevant models of supervision, and knowledge of local cultures and social diversity.
Skills
* Understanding of audit and outcome measures appropriate to OT service development skills.
* Effective evidence-based communication skills.
* Ability to analyze complex information and problem-solve.
* Computer literacy, supervisory and appraisal skills.
* Ability to work independently and set priorities.
