About the Role
Effective Risk Management represents a core value at the centre of the platform. To achieve this goal, it takes the continuous identification and understanding of our relevant risks, ongoing assessment, and evaluation of the adequacy of the relevant controls in line with risk appetites – and where required, effective improvements.
First line risk management requires a comprehensive understanding of risk management practices and group policies which can be overlaid on top of the intricacies of the operational processes.
The role holder will act as a key point between 1st line and 2nd line, helping to ensure risk events and breaches are recorded, escalated and managed effectively. They will also be responsible for producing risk management information and conducting analysis and reporting on findings and suggested recommendations.
The individual will play an important role in delivering both departmental and individual targets within appointed timescales and to the highest standards. Application of technical knowledge to the department’s operation and innovative, solution-based thinking will be a key aspect of the role.
This role will be on an initial 6 month fixed term contract basis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support Operations in delivering strategic goals for process improvements relating to risk management, including:
* Risk Training;
* Operational control/regulatory adherence;
* Breach log maintenance;
* 1st Line Risk reporting;
* Management of Audit/Risk Incident Actions;
* Escalation;
* Support Operations on risk escalations and risk management queries.
* Preparation and delivery of Risk reports/opinions to the COO Office, Executive Team and Board.
* Liaise with 2nd line risk function and the Operational teams to assist in management of their risk activities - such as recording risk incidents/breaches.
* Perform quality checks on incidents raised, evaluate corrective and preventative actions to ensure they are fit for purpose.
* Perform trend analysis on breaches and near misses, providing guidance and suggest process improvements where appropriate.
* Work closely with CASS function in breach reviews and escalations.
* Support BCP and Business Resilience work as required.
You will, from time to time, be required to undertake other activities that fall within your capabilities as directed by management.
About You
Specialist Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
* Good operational knowledge, including the basics of CASS, in particular CASS 6 and 7.
* Basic understanding of Risk Management practices.
* Financial services experience, specifically a good understanding of wrap platforms.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ownership and accountability.
* Excellent drive with ability to work unsupervised under own initiative.
* Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* A proactive and innovative approach to problem solving, including persuasion and influencing skills.
Desirable:
* Experience in a similar role.
* Operational Risk (CISI) or equivalent industry recognised qualification.
