To provide senior professional leadership, motivation and supervision to all the Imaging clinical staff at PRH, HPC and across the plain film imaging team across all sites (PRH, HPC and RSCH) To provide operational and high level expert advanced practice leadership, clinical advice, teaching, mentorship and support for staff in relation to all aspects of Imaging. To provide professional support to the Q&S team and IRMER lead To lead on the development of and implementation of clinical / policies affecting the service and wider Trust. Service Delivery and Improvement To provide support and direct line management to the modality superintendents at PRH and HPC. To lead the fluoroscopy service at PRH/RSCH and to ensure requests are vetted and booked within required timescales. To report all doses attributable to research examinations to the appropriate forum To ensure professional and technical knowledge and expertise is kept up to date by attending meetings and study days and reading professional journals To delegate, where appropriate, responsibilities (professional & organisational) to Modality lead superintendents and provide management and leadership support for them to develop and maintain systems for staff induction, appraisal and training To be responsible for the management and organisation of the workload in the X-ray departments at PRH and HPC, ensuring that high clinical standards are maintained, and plan for future needs. Adapt the service to respond to long and short-term demands. Ensure the daily workload is organised in line with clinical priorities. Rearrange work lists in case of equipment failure and be responsive to the inconvenience caused to patients by short notice cancellation of appointments To liaise with the radiographer allocating on-call duties and with the staff body to ensure provision of out-of-hours meets the needs of the service Responsible for managing the annual leave process and sickness procedures for the staff in the dept Maintain a high degree of clinical expertise, being aware of current developments in medical imaging and ensure that image quality and low radiation dose have a high priority within the dept Act as overall Radiation protection supervisor at PRH and HPC in accordance with the Ionising regulations to take responsibility for ensuring compliance with all national and local regulations concerning the protection of persons against ionising radiation. To lead on work with the Radiology General Manager, Lead Radiographer and modality lead superintendents at PRH and HPC to ensure that the interface between the Diagnostic Radiographers, Radiology nurses and Clinicians is optimal and achieves excellence in patient care. Work in conjunction with Radiology General Manager, Lead Radiographer and modality lead superintendents to ensure that national targets e.g. DM01, cancer waits and RTT are being met. To lead on the provision of expert advice on technical matters, for example in relation to Radiographic practices and the Radiology Equipment Replacement programme and equipment procurement. To provide support to the General Manager and Lead Radiographer on managing equipment downtime and associated continuity planning ranging from unplanned outage, general maintenance to planned downtime for replacement programmes. Report and investigate all clinical, non-clinical and radiation incidents in line with Risk Management policies, making recommendations and implementing remedial actions where appropriate. To support department Radiation Protection supervisors in the annual Radiation protection audit To ensure the departments at PRH and HPC are complaint with the respective legislation for example Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 and the Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations 2017 People Management and Development Work with senior colleagues, to carry out 6 monthly skill mix reviews as required, and ensure that the established figures meet the needs of the imaging department To ensure all appraisal and STAM is up to date across PRH and HPC. To be responsible for staffing strategies in order to reduce vacancies, increase retention, decrease sickness and absence, decrease turnover and promote career development. Ensure all HR policies and procedures are followed.
