The main purpose of the role is to develop and deliver medical education to enable medical students to grasp community and inpatient care in old age psychiatry in all its aspects. This will involve taking a lead role in the performance of the Old Age Psychiatry medical education placement (AP1).
A comprehensive knowledge of old age psychiatry is required for this, as the successful applicant will need to form positive links between voluntary, independent, and statutory services so that students can absorb and participate in all activities relevant to care pathways.
To ensure systems are in place for clinical supervision for team members, including appraisals and annual professional development plans. Identify the need for specific training within the area of old age psychiatry based on learning objectives.
Overcome barriers in engaging and supporting clinical staff in teaching medical student areas. Be a lead specialist in undergraduate medical education for old age psychiatry.

Promote the use of critical analysis points and innovative approaches to ensure education is reviewed according to student learning objectives and university directions.
